Fun family visit

The day after Thanksgiving we had a visit from Jake's grandma Birdie, his Aunt Penny, and cousin Anne. We were thrilled to see them all because it has been a while. Jake and I were wondering how Connor would be because he hadn't napped and it is always up in the air if he doesn't sleep. Boy did I underestimate him...he was such a good boy all day long! He just loved seeing everyone and was showing off the whole time they were here. We all went out to lunch and he was so good at lunch, he just sat there and "talked" to us all. He also put on quite the show by dancing to some Neil Diamond for them. He danced through the whole song and we were all dancing with him and just cracking up! He LOVES being the center of attention and he is such a little comedian! We were all so happy to visit with Birdie, Penny, and Anne. It was a much better alternative to shopping on black Friday! :)

Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Thanksgiving! So, I thought I might list a few things that I am thankful for this year for my post today. Jake and I aren't really having a "traditional" Thanksgiving this year, but that's o.k....we wish things were different, but we are very thankful for each other and our little family! We spent most of the day so far putting away odds and ends at the new apartment. I am so excited to be here. We have a lot more room and it is so much more peaceful and quiet. My dad and I got up at 4:30 this morning and went to Meijer to get a new t.v. for Jake and I. It was a great deal that we couldn't pass up and we were lucky to be in line and were able to get it. Jake is sure enjoying the Thanksgiving day football on it...Here are just a few things that I am thankful for this year. I am truly blessed with far more than I deserve, but here is a short list for the heck of it! :-)

1. My health and my family's health
2. My friends and family...I don't know what I would do without them
3. My amazing church and church family
4. SLEEP
5. Our new apartment
6. My salvation, and knowing a God who will always forgive me when I don't deserve it
7. My two favorite men in my life...my husband and son
8. The Office
9. Desert
10. Bella...my beagle

Quick trip to the big town of Ladd

Last Saturday we took a trip back to my hometown of Ladd, Illinois. It was unfortunately a very quick trip, we spent more time in the car than anything! BUT it was nice to see the few people we were able to see. I would have liked to have seen many more, but with being in the middle of moving and so much going on, this one had to be a quick one. On the way out of town, mom and dad's car started acting up so we had to go back home and switch everything and take Jake's...we almost called it off, but didn't. We finally made it on the road and on our way. We stopped by our friend Laura's at first. She is such a sweet lady and we love her dearly. Connor loved her house b/c she has tons of breakables! LOL! It is definitely not child friendly...but that was o.k. We had a nice visit with her and then went on to Torri's which is an ice cream parlor/restaurant that has been around for ages. I grew up going there and it was fun to take Connor there. We met my mom's closest friends, Marge and Bernie there and had a delicious lunch and enjoyed the company. After that, we went to see my "grandpa" Harry and his wife Yvonne. They were our neighbors for about 22 years and I love them both just as much as my real grandparents. It is always so great to visit with them. Harry just got through with some major surgery and had to get some cancer removed from his colon, but he is doing wonderfully now and we found out that he is cancer free so that is awesome! Connor had a blast just going up and down their stairs the whole time...poor Jake got a work out following him around! After that, we left on our journey home. The four hours on the way back seemed like a lifetime.....it was a nice visit, but just like always it was way too short.

I only hope I look this good when I am 84.

Big boy haircut!

Connor got his second hair cut the last night. He went to Cookie Cutters for his first hair cut, but they charge an arm and a leg and it's ridiculous considering he has virtually no hair and it takes them two minutes. Soooo I asked our friend Janell who cuts mine and Jake's hair if she could do Connor's and she said not a problem! I was worried b/c Connor is so busy, busy, busy all the time, but he sat on daddy's lap like a pro and did great! Janell was wonderful with him and his hair looks great! He especially loved the sucker he got at the end!

The finished product, daddy and Connor both got haircuts!

Of course, both of my boys had to have a sucker! Ha!

My little helper

So Connor's new thing is "helping" mommy put away stuff in the fridge or just re-arranging it, every single time I open it. No matter where he is, if he hears me get in the fridge, he comes running and scoots his little butt in there and does his thing. His favorite thing to pick up and move around is yogurt...which wouldn't be a big deal, except his other favorite thing to do is throw it straight at the ground which in turn causes quite the yogurt mess and then mommy doesn't think it's so fun anymore! :) Gotta love him...

Just because...

O.k. so it doesn't have anything to do with my family, but I LOVE this video...it cracks me up, and I promise you, the song is addicting!

No more Bouncer Town for awhile....

So it's been a pretty dreary weekend here in Indy. Last night we hit up Target and few other stores and then today Jake worked till' about 2. We thought we might take Connor to a place not to far from here called Bouncer Town. It has a bunch of blow up toys for the kids to jump and play in, and a special area for kids 3 and under. We thought it would be perfect for this rainy, dreary day so we headed out. Of course, everyone in Indy had the same idea so it was pretty packed. We put Connor in the bounce zone and he just sat there like he was being punished...it was so funny! We tried to get him to move around but he just wouldn't. We moved him to another section but he just wanted out! We were in and out of there in about 10 minutes! Bouncer Town was not the hit that we thought it would be! Oh well, we will try again another time. After that, we hit up the mall for a bit and then to Paradise Cafe for dinner. Connor was a goof at dinner and danced all through his meal. He was being quite funny and so much fun. We ended up having a low key, really nice night. We also got home in good time so the little man could get to bed for church in the morning. He likes to sleep in, but once he is at church in the nursery, he just lights up. He loves it there!

NOT liking Bouncer Town too much...this is what he did!!! LOL!

Ready to GET OUT!!!

Vans and sunglasses

My two closest friends from home Jessica and Kendra just sent Connor his bday gifts in the mail and Connor just absolutely loves them! They keep him looking like the coolest one year old around. (well, because he is the coolest one year old around!) Kendra has not met Connor yet because of her living in California, but she will be moving back soon so she will meet him then! I kind of made them honorary "aunts" because I have no siblings and well Jake's one brother doesn't see him that often, so I look forward to Connor getting to know them as he gets older, and always having them in our life! We love you "Aunt" Jess and Kendra!

Here are some pictures of Connor sporting his second pair of Vans from Jess!!!

Here he is KNOWING he is cool in his new shades from Ken!

Halloween 2008

Halloween turned out to be a really fun night! My mother for some reason this year, had a change of heart, and instead of hiding in the house with the lights turned off or making my dad give out candy, she decided to get a big ole' tub of candy and sit outside to pass it out! Speaking of pass out, I almost did when I heard she did that. (She's like the grinch of Halloween, if there was one) I guess having a grandchild has softened her views on Halloween! ;) Jake and I didn't really have any plans, other than take Connor to a few houses of people that we knew so we headed over to grandma and grandpa's. It was a GORGEOUS night!!! Connor had a blast just driving his little motorized kawasaki around the yard showing off for all the trick or treater's. He was a big help and wanted to pass out the candy as well. We took him to a few houses, but for some reason he got shy and wanted mommy to hold him (which is soooo unlike him!) He went running right to grandma and grandpa though when he saw them! We had pizza and just enjoyed the night. It turned out to be a lot of fun and maybe, just maybe we have softened my mom a bit and she will continue to hand out candy every year....I'll believe it when I see it.
