Carving the pumpkin

So if you are noticing the date on these posts, I am playing catch up. While catching up on my shows on the DVR, I am also catching up with my blog. Last week, after we took Connor to Stonycreek to get his pumpkin, we went ahead and carved it the next night. Connor, of course, wanted to be in the middle of things and "help" as much as possible...even if helping meant sticking his hands in the bowl of the seeds and guts of the pumpkin. He was more thrilled to be able to stand on the table than anything! We wanted to get a shot of Connor and the finished product but someone by the name of daddy didn't get done carving his "masterpiece" until about midnight, so Connor was fast asleep! While the boys were messing with the pumpkin, I cooked up the seeds so Jake and I had a nice snack when the pumpkin was all done. I just love this time of year!

Stonycreek Fams

Jake and I went to this pumpkin patch in Noblesville, IN two years ago when we first moved here called Stonycreek Farms. I was still hobbling around with a cane, having just been released from my injury of my shattered tibia, but we had the best time. It is one of the nicest pumpkin patches, plus they offer extended hay rack rides which we love!!! We had a great time and we didn't even get to explore the whole place b/c of the hills and my leg being bad. We didn't go last year because little man was just shy of a month old. We did, however, take him this year. It was a gorgeous day and as soon as we got there, we got on the hay ride. Connor LOVED it! We went out to the patch and picked out our pumpkin and then walked around the farms. We enjoyed some caramel apple slices, Connor played on the playground, mommy went nuts with her camera...all in all it was a great Fall day!

ZOO BOO (and a little reminiscing)

So, once again I have fallen behind on my blog updates. No excuses this time....SO anyway, My parents, Jake and I took our little dragon to the zoo for the annual zoo boo. This was the first year we have gone and we had a lot of fun. Connor especially loved the carousel that went backwards. His face just lit up immediately. We had a fun night, it was beautiful outside and Connor had a ball.
It was kind of a weird night for me b/c the Zoo Boo was the same night as my 10 year high school reunion back in Illinois. As I got dressed and ready for the zoo, all I could think about was, here I am 10 years later, putting on a pumpkin shirt, getting my one year old in his costume and yelling at my husband to please put diapers in Connor's diaper bag....it seemed surreal. It seems like just yesterday that I graduated high school and I can honestly say that at 18 I never saw myself being a stay at home mommy and wife at 28. I was so headstrong and determined.....well, more like I was 18 and I knew it all. :) As I watched Connor that night dance around to the music at the zoo and then look up at me with those gorgeous eyes of his, I thought to myself there was nowhere I would rather be than surrounded by my family. No matter what I thought 10 years ago, or how my life came to be where it is today, I couldn't be more happier than I am now. I have been blessed with an amazing family and I just know that God had to be laughing a bit to himself when I was younger and I was just sure of what I was going to do because as we know now, he had different plans for me, he knew all along where I would be today.....and I thank him daily for those other plans. I wouldn't have it any other way!

1st pumpkin patch of the season...

Wow, it's been awhile since I have updated anything on here. Life has been busy lately and I'm trying to play catch up. Two weekends ago, we decided at the last minute to take Connor to a nearby pumpkin patch. It was a beautiful evening and we were bored and I am so glad we did. We ended up having a lot of fun! I am sure I will be posting more pictures from pumpkin patches because Jake has a couple days off this next week so we will be going to more, but for now, here are these! On another note, the little man got a flu shot today and did wonderfully. He gave me a look that could kill afterward and let out a small cry, but I was so proud of him, because he really barely cried!

12 month check up + shots = one upset little boy!

Connor went in for his 12 month well check this week and he checked out wonderfully! He was having a ball flirting with the doctor and the nurse....until the nurse brought out the needle. I held him and afterwards he was telling me off something fierce, he just kept saying MAMA, MAMA, MAAAAMAAA over and over again as if he was yelling at me like, "How could you let them do this to me?" I felt awful, but he did recover pretty quickly and was smiling in no time so that was good. He is 30 inches tall and weighs only 20 lbs. He is a bit small (weight wise) but the doctor said he is healthy and right on track so that is all that matters!!! Yay for my healthy boy!

Connor's 12 month photos

So, we had Rachel Vanoven do Connor's 12 month photos because she did such an AMAZING job with his 9 month pictures and we think she is pretty awesome, so I wanted to share a few that I got today! She does such a great job and we will for sure continue going to her...she did his 9 month and now his 12 month and I have been MORE than pleased both times. Her website is www.rachelvanoven.com...check her out!!! :)

O.k....so I said a few...so sue me. They are CUTE!

My little man is 1!!!

So I cannot believe it has taken me so long to post this blog. Connor had his first birthday a week ago and I am just getting around to it. I still cannot believe that my baby boy is a year old. He has been such a blessing to both Jake and I. This little boy has changed my life in ways I could have never imagined. He is such a joy to us every day. He is independent, crazy, hilarious, stubborn, smart, goofy, and just plain awesome!! :) He is walking now, and he "talks" ALL the time, although the only things we understand are mama, dada, and bye! He sure has a lot to say though! For his birthday, his dad and I took him to Chuck E Cheese, Toys R Us, Build A Bear, and then out to eat. After that, we stopped at grandma and grandpa's for a cupcake. On Friday, we took him The Children's Museum, which he loved! On Saturday was his party and it was small and nice. There was only about ten people there and we had it outside on the deck and it was perfect! Connor loved every minute of being the center of attention!!! Happy 1st Birthday baby boy! Mommy and daddy love you so, so much! Your laughter and smiles drive us through our days!
