Christmas 2008

We had a fantastic Christmas! On Christmas eve, Jake, my dad and I, took Connor to the Children's Museum downtown to play for the morning. We stopped and had breakfast at Dunkin' Donuts first and then headed there. It was a lot of fun. When we got home, I did a lot of cooking and got everything ready for Christmas eve dinner because Jake and I were having my mom and dad over to our place after church. We went to Christmas eve service at church and came home, ate way too much and played the wii. Connor got to open one gift and he got his little grow and go giraffe which he really likes! Christmas morning Connor went running to the presents when he woke up, it was precious. He loved opening the gifts, although it took him FOREVER! He likes to rip a little bit off of one and then move to the next, it was pretty funny. We enjoyed a lazy morning around here and then headed to my parent's house for dinner. We had a wonderful meal over there and just a lazy, relaxing day....exactly what I wanted.
Amongst all the material things that unfortunately seem to overshadow the real meaning of CHRISTmas so much in today's society, we were also celebrating a birthday. May we always remember that Christmas is not about "things". I feel so blessed beyond belief to have a healthy family that surrounds me with love and wonderful friends who are beside me when I need them. Most importantly, I know a God whom even though I fall short of his love daily, he forgives me and blesses me beyond measure. Hope everyone had a VERY Merry Christmas! (Warning-This post is picture heavy!)

Santa, Friends, and Parent's Night Out!

This past weekend was a busy one...December seems to be packed for us, but it's o.k., because we have been having a great time. On Friday night, we took Connor to see Santa at the Greeenwood Mall. This is where we took him last year (he was only 3 months old) The picture was adorable and he was too young to be scared! This year, we were a little concerned. He is just now hitting the stage where he has some stranger anxiety. Well, we got him on Santa's lap and you can just see his reaction.....not a fan at all. We high tailed it out of there (I just had to buy the picture first) and he was happy once he was out of Santa's sight! After seeing Santa, we went over to our friends, Erica and Jared's house for a nice dinner and visit. We may have pushed Connor a little too much b/c he was pretty tired and way past his bedtime. Saturday night was adults night!!!!! Yay! We had our couple's dinner for our small group at a wonderful Italian restaurant called Vito Provelone's. Grandma and Grandpa had Connor and mommy and daddy enjoyed a wonderful night out with friends. After eating, we all headed over to Nancy and Mike's for some games and didn't end up getting home till' 3 am and then up at 8 for church! It was so nice to be out with friends!! It was a great weekend!

As you can see, he was none too thrilled with the jolly guy

On Saturday we took Connor downtown the Indiana State Museum because they have this thing there every year called Celebration Crossing. It is a pretty cute set up...they have Santa and Mrs. Claus' house and a train ride as well. We got there and didn't realize that it was Girl Scout day so it was pretty packed to say the least. We ate lunch upstairs at the cafe' and I had the most amazing chicken salad EVER....not the point, but it was really good. :) So after that we took Connor over to see Santa, but realized at that point that there was two really long lines so we decided he could do the train or see Santa because we still had to make it to the zoo. We decided on the train, because he loves them and also because Santa is everywhere and we can see him someplace else. Daddy waited in line with him and they had a fun time on the train. We ended up leaving after that to head to the zoo. Luckily we had a pretty good evening for the zoo...I think it was about 36 degrees, which was a lot warmer than it had been. We started out at the White River Gardens where they had an amazing train set going around inside along with Christmas trees and decorations on both floors. It really was beautiful. Next was the zoo and it was just gorgeous! All the lights were so, so pretty! Connor just kind of took it all in from his stroller. We took him on the carousel (his fave part of the zoo) and then also the Holiday train ride to see more lights. He loved that as well. We saw the dolphins and all the indoor animals...it was fun being there at night. We went to see the reindeer and tried once again to see Santa, but it was getting late and the line was so long that we once again decided we could wait on Santa. We had a very long, but very fun Saturday. Connor was definitely passed out the minute he got strapped into his car seat!!!

All bundled up for Christmas at the Zoo!

Partners in crime

I made the mistake of leaving my bowl of oatmeal (which was pretty much gone) on the end table while I ran in the room to grab Connor's clothes the other morning. This scene is what I came back to.....He wanted Bella to eat the food so bad. It was so cute, he just kept trying to feed her and of course she was loving it! :) They definitely are becoming partners in crime.

Gotta love this time of year

So I was listening to some Christmas music today and I really got in the Christmas spirit so I thought I would post some recent "Christmasy" pictures of the little man that have been taken in the past couple of weeks. Pretty random, but they turned out cute so I thought I would share. He is such a trooper for mommy always having this lens in his face! The very last picture is of him cuddling with daddy. He got pretty sick this past weekend and ended up in the ER with a very high temp. He was just lifeless and only wanted to be held...we were pretty worried about him. Come to find out it was strep throat. It was a rough weekend for him, but the antibiotics have seemed to kick in and he is acting a bit more like himself today. I thought the picture of him snuggling with daddy was so cute.
